A Glowing Future

“A Glowing Future” is a crime story written by Ruth Rendell. It appears in the book Crime Never Pays, which contains eight short stories all about crime.
Rendell´s story talks about a womanizer called Maurice that returns to London because of his work after being one year in Australia. In London he slept with his second woman called Betsy, who thought he had come back to be with her. In the morning, Betsy realized that Maurice is planning to leave her, so she gets emotional.

Maurice tells Betsy, that he has a glowing future in Australia: he has a good job and a girlfriend that he’s going to get married with, called Patricia. When Betsy knows that, she gets increasingly angry and frustrated. She is bitter because Maurice never wrote or called her in one year; she shouts and throws stuff at him.
So, the one million dollar question is, what will Betsy do to keep Maurice with her?

I liked the story and specifically the way it is narrated, because it keeps you alert. Personally, I like characters that have a psychotic profile, because it’s interesting that you never know what they’re going to do, exactly like Betsy.
I recommend “A Glowing   Future” for people of all the ages, but who like crime, suspense and also cruel stories and characters.

I am disappointed with me :(

At first, I want to say sorry because i know that these last weeks i haven´t write in this blog. I know there is no excuse, but i have been with a lot of homework, readings and proyects, and the time is just not enough for me.
Going to my English class, I am disapointed because this last weeks I realized that I´m not giving my best effort.  I open my eyes in this point two times: First, when my teacher give to me and my class some reading comprehension excercises where I only had, in the firts part of the excercise, 8 correct of 35 questions; and in the second excercise, just 3 correct of 14 questions.
The second time that i didn´t feel so happy with me, was when my teacher did a vocabulary excercise, causing me to realized that I have not been study my notes on free time, thing that I promise to do at first of the course.
So when I realized that, instead of hate me, I decide to start practice the most I can on my free time. First, I decided to use Tandem, an app that gives you the opportunity to talk with other people around the world in English, for practice it. Besides, you can help other people to practice one language you know very well, in my case, Spanish.
But when I started to use Tandem, I was very shy, and because I didn´t know what to talk about, feeling very bad because I really like the theme of the app.
But, this will not be an excuse for no practice, so I decided to open Duolingo, and app that only gives to you some basic excercises to practice for a little of 5 minutes at day.
I promise the next week I will share my Duolingo experience and I will try to use well Tandem. :)
Thank you for reading,
I write next week.

Creating my blog

Hello, my name is Sofía Angeles and I am a Mass Comunication and English student. I am doing this because my English teacher, Arturo, tell us to do a blog and write our progress about English.

The first thing we have to do in our blog is write about our expectations in the Englisg class, so... here we go :)

First off, I wish I make good friends, because I think, is an excellent motivation to go and enjoy classes.
Then, i´m really interesed in taking out my shyness when I speak English, and learn the most number of new words I can.

To accomplish this, I promise to practice English the most time, my homework let me, and review the topics in class.

I am really happy, because I really love idioms and I am sure that, with a little of effort, I would achieve all my goals in this and all my classes.:) <3
